001Calling Kuching Heroes! Kuching Life Care needs you!

On Sunday, 8th May 2016, from 6.00 to 10.00 am, come join the Super Rat Race at iCom Square! The race to commemorate Labour Day is now in its 3rd edition after last year’s successful race held at the same venue. The race will be a 5 km non–competitive fun run and will flag off at 7.00 am from the iCom Square Building (Start / Finish).

Last year’s Super Rat Race was held on the bright, sunny morning of 1st May 2015 and adults and youths alike came clad in their most creative superhero attire to for a leisurely run through town. There were over 2,000 registered participants who, after completing the run, were treated to some fun and entertainment at the MBKS Council Building, including prizes for the best dressed male and female superheroes and biggest team of superheroes. Out of the proceeds received, the organisers made a substantial donation to the Society for Critically Sick Children, or SOS Kids as they are popularly known.

For this year’s edition, the organisers will be making a substantial donation from the proceeds received to Kuching Life Care Society, a society whose objectives are to provide palliative care for terminally ill patients for the remainder of their lives, as well as lend support to the patients’ families and loved ones.

The Superhero theme to the Rat Race will continue this year to honour and recognise all those hardworking heroes and heroines who report for duty at workplaces and schools everyday. Adults and children alike go through the same daily routine of working hard to try and earn a living or gain an education just to be heroes to themselves and their families and loved ones.

For just one day in a year, everyone should be entitled to feel like a super–powered being who makes a difference to the lives of others around them. Participants are thus encouraged to come dressed in their most creative Superhero attire and although please wear proper running shoes as running will be involved.

The Super Rat Race is being jointly organised by O–RUN–UTAN Running Club, a locally registered club, and Revolution Run (BROOKS), a retail shop located at Green Heights Mall specialising in running.

For the registration fee of RM50.00, participants will be entitled to a custom designed Dri–fit t–shirt, limited to the first 3,000 pax only. Each participant who completes the race will be entitled to a specially designed Finisher’s Medal. Once again, there will also be prizes for the Most Creatively Dressed Male and Female Superhero, as well as lucky draw prizes up for grabs.
